XTOKENISER is a free, browser-based PII redaction tool. Text, PDF, Word and Excel files are processed entirely on your device; images, audio and video are sent to OpenAI using your own key to extract their text before redaction (see the Privacy page). You bring your own API key for the AI provider you choose.
XTOKENISER provides best-effort detection of personally identifiable information using a combination of regex patterns, curated dictionaries, and statistical heuristics. It does not catch every variant of every PII type. You are responsible for verifying redactions before submitting sensitive content to any third-party AI service. If a redaction misses, that is your responsibility, not ours.
The service is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind. We do not warrant fitness for any particular purpose, merchantability, or non-infringement. We are not responsible for any data leakage, financial loss, regulatory penalty, or other harm arising from use of the service.
Do not use the service to circumvent law, breach contracts you have with third parties, or engage in activities prohibited by the AI provider whose API you are using. Do not attempt to overwhelm, abuse, or reverse-engineer the service. Do not copy, redistribute, or commercialise the source code without written permission.
